Gathered
Gathered by Fran Carter , Contemporary jewellery and objects.
Moving between the internal landscape of the mind and the grounding textures of the natural world, this exhibition translates fleeting sensory moments into intimate, physical forms of contemporary jewellery and objects.

Ring
Kathy Bartlett presents a batch of fresh oil paintings initially inspired by the semi-translucent glass you see in the front doors of old state houses - objects and light seen through frosted, wobbly, bubbly, fluted glass and other windows.
Castomaniac
CASTOMANIAC has taken over Rice Pudding Gallery with the installation of more than 1000 matchbox sized artworks.

The Lie of the Land
Artists- Eliza Pudney & Marama Groot
Having both grown up in rural Aotearoa, Eliza and Marama see ‘nature’ as a part of everyday life, not a distant spectacle of scenery. Through painting and sculpture, they criticise the historical colonial perspectives that shape the perception of land in Aotearoa. Western thought separates wilderness and civilization, nature from culture, human from animal, as if these separations exist at all. Conservation reflects this logic too, wilderness as being something fenced off and protected from human presence, as if they exist outside this ecology rather than within it. A coloniser's worldview relies on this fabricated sense of superiority.

A Quiet Practice
Artist - Charlotte Hathaway
Artist Statement:
My work explores the relationship between stillness and motion, using camera movement and layering to create images that highlight the beauty of the natural environment.
Working predominantly in-camera, I create textures and use light to create a sense of spaciousness.
I am interested in expressing my response to nature when I connect with the breath, the earth under my feet, and an awareness of place. A Quiet Practice, my first solo exhibition, is an invitation to pause and experience the landscape through a quieter, more contemplative way of seeing.
Photography has become an extension of my yoga practice. It offers me a way to slow down and connect more deeply with the world around me.
A Quiet Practice is open until Sunday 5 July.
Visit Charlotte in the gallery:
Weekends from 11am to 3pm
Also Friday 3 July: 11am to 3pm
Looking forward to seeing you there.

About us
Established in 2022, Rice Pudding is an artist-led space set up to support other artists. We provide a space and building blocks for artists to show work in an accessible and supportive environment.
The Gallery is in the front of an old storehouse at 91 Constable Street, Newtown, Wellington. The name, Rice Pudding, is a nod to the history of the building as a warehouse and shop, and suggests the playful nature of the space. The building has housed distributors of food stuffs and the region’s first Discount Grocery. Since 1993 it has been a workshop for furniture and art.
The shop window gallery is now a clean modern space that has hosted exhibitions of many artforms including ceramics, photography, paintings, sculpture, and multi-media. The large street-facing shop windows and 7.3m x 2.6m space are ideal for exhibitions, events and pop-ups, multi-media works, sculptures, installations, design, performance, and soundscapes. The artwork can be viewed through the windows and artists can also open the space to visitors at times of their choosing.
