Artist - Sophie Bidwell

Artists statement:

For the last twenty or so years I have been treating my art practice like an imaginary friend, sometimes there’s even a whole civilization talking with me in my mind. A relationship I can dip in and out of, at times staying a while and really enjoying it and other times just a quick visit for a cup of tea. When I sit and make something out of clay, either coil building or carving it starts to speak, eventually becoming part of the conversation. These works were quite reluctant to join at first and in many ways felt quite hard to make. I am looking forward to creating with them in the space and seeing where we end up.

Join Sophie Bidwill to celebrate the opening of Worms New Ancient History opening Thursday 9 July 5pm.
