Artist - Gasper Huala
The HORNERO (Furnarius rufus) is Argentina´s national bird and are known for their remarkable ability to build nests out of mud that resemble small clay ovens (horno), Gaspar´s body of work explores the shared connections between New Zealand and Argentina´s birds and celebrates similarities between the two countries.
For Gaspar, clay is a way to inhabit and engage with the world. It reflects his own way of seeing and understanding the universe. "These pieces are heartfelt gifts to the birds and people of New Zealand, illustrating the many ways we can connect with our environment and create homes. It matters not where, how, or when; what truly counts is that we build homes, not cages."
